Gemini CLI social media publishing with SimplePost
The SimplePost repository is a Gemini CLI extension. Installing it gives Gemini CLI the SimplePost skill and the hosted MCP server, so you can draft, preview and schedule posts on your connected accounts from the terminal.

It works through SimplePost's social media MCP server. Gemini CLI cannot connect social accounts, read engagement analytics or change posts that are already published; those stay in the SimplePost web app or on the network.

Set up SimplePost in Gemini CLI
Install the extension
Restart Gemini CLI after installing.

Run /extensions list and check that simplepost is listed.

Complete the browser sign-in to SimplePost.

Authentication
Sign-in, permissions and tokens
- The extension uses OAuth with the hosted server. Gemini CLI checks the authorization server's issuer on the callback, which SimplePost includes.
- The token is stored by Gemini CLI and survives restarts; it expires after 90 days.
Workflow
Example: schedule a post from the terminal
A short session that drafts, reviews and schedules one post for two networks.
List my SimplePost accounts. Draft a post announcing our 2.4 release for LinkedIn, and a shorter version for Bluesky under 300 characters. Save it as one draft.
Result: One draft with a Bluesky override is saved and both versions are printed.
Schedule the draft for Thursday 14:00 Europe/Paris.
Result: The post is scheduled; Gemini CLI reports the exact time.

Troubleshooting
If Gemini CLI cannot publish
The extension is not listed
Restart Gemini CLI after installing, then run /extensions list.
Authorization fails
Run /mcp auth simplepost again and approve access with the same SimplePost account you used to connect social accounts.
