What it checks
Limits and counting rules by network
Networks count differently. X weights characters: links count as 23 and emoji or CJK characters as 2. Bluesky counts graphemes, so a family emoji is one character, and also limits posts to 3,000 bytes. Telegram allows 4,096 characters, or 1,024 when the message carries media. The checker follows the same rules as SimplePost's validation; SimplePost checks again when you schedule.

Social media post checker questions
What is the character limit on X?
280 weighted characters for standard accounts. Links count as 23 characters and emoji count as 2. Accounts that X allows to post long posts, such as Premium, can publish up to 25,000 characters.
Why does my Bluesky post count differently?
Bluesky counts graphemes, the characters you see, and limits a post to 300 of them and to 3,000 bytes. SimplePost publishes Bluesky links and mentions as plain text.
Which networks need media?
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest cannot publish text on its own. YouTube needs exactly one video.
Is my text stored?
No. The check runs in your browser. If you continue in SimplePost, the text is handed over in the link fragment and kept in that browser for up to 24 hours.
