Claude Code social media publishing with SimplePost
Claude Code already reads your repository, changelog and git history. Add SimplePost as an MCP server and it can turn that context into release announcements, preview them and schedule them on your connected accounts, without leaving the terminal.

What you need
- Claude Code with remote HTTP MCP server support.
- A SimplePost account on the free trial or any paid plan, with social accounts connected in the web app.
- For CI or scripts without an assistant, the SimplePost CLI (Advanced and Pro) is the non-interactive alternative.

What Claude Code can do with SimplePost
- Draft announcements from CHANGELOG.md, release tags, commit messages or pull request descriptions.
- Create per-network versions: a technical thread for X and Bluesky, a summary for LinkedIn.
- Save drafts for review, show previews, and schedule them for the release time.
- Check what is already scheduled and edit or discard posts before they go out.
It works through SimplePost's social media MCP server. Claude Code cannot connect social accounts, read engagement analytics or change posts that are already published; those stay in the SimplePost web app or on the network.
Setup
Set up SimplePost in Claude Code
Add the server
Run this in your terminal. Add --scope user to make it available in every project.

Start Claude Code, run /mcp, choose simplepost and complete the browser sign-in.
/mcpCheck the connection
Ask Claude Code to list your SimplePost accounts. It should call list_accounts and show real account IDs.
Optional: install the plugin
The plugin bundles the SimplePost skill with the same server configuration.

Authentication
Sign-in, permissions and tokens
- Claude Code uses OAuth with the hosted server; there is no API key to paste into a config file or commit by accident.
- The token is stored by Claude Code and expires after 90 days. Re-run /mcp to sign in again.
- For a self-hosted SimplePost, replace the URL with your deployment's /mcp endpoint.
Workflow
Example: announce a release from the repository
Run these prompts in the repository you are releasing. Claude Code reads local files for context; the media it sends to SimplePost must be a public URL, because the hosted server cannot read your disk.
Read CHANGELOG.md and the commits since the v2.3.0 tag. Summarize what changed in v2.4.0 for users, not developers.
Result: Claude Code reads the files and git log and returns a user-facing summary you can correct.
List my SimplePost accounts. Draft one SimplePost post for the release: a single post for LinkedIn, and a three-part thread for X and Bluesky using per-account overrides. Link to the GitHub release page. Save it as a draft and show the preview.
Result: A single draft with overrides is saved, and the preview text is returned for each network.
Schedule that draft for 15:00 UTC today, when the release goes live. Use a new idempotency key.
Result: The draft becomes a scheduled post; Claude Code reports the exact time and accounts.
After 15:00, inspect the post and tell me the result for each account, with links.
Result: Per-account results with post URLs, or the exact error for any account that failed.

General and platform-specific versions
- Release announcements usually need two shapes: a technical thread for developer audiences and a single summary elsewhere. Claude Code can produce both in one post with per-account overrides.
- Ask it to keep version numbers, links and product names exactly as they appear in the repository, and to show you every version before scheduling.

Networks Claude Code can publish to
All ten hosted networks work the same way from Claude Code: X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Telegram. These platform guides are most relevant here:
- Schedule X (Twitter) posts with AIPosts, threads of up to 25 posts, quotes and media on X, with weighted-length checks before publishing.
- Schedule LinkedIn posts with AIPersonal-profile posts with up to 9 images or a video, visibility settings and a feed preview.
- Schedule Bluesky posts with AIPosts, threads and quotes with up to 4 images or a video on Bluesky, with alt text support.
- Schedule Threads posts with AIText posts, reply chains, quotes and carousels of up to 20 images and videos on Threads.
- Schedule Telegram posts with AIChannel and group messages, albums of up to 10 items and reply chains through your own bot.
Troubleshooting
If Claude Code cannot publish
simplepost shows as needing authentication
Run /mcp in Claude Code, select simplepost and complete the browser flow.
Claude Code wants to attach a local screenshot
The hosted server cannot read local files. Upload the image somewhere public (for example the GitHub release assets), or add it in the web composer.
A retry created a duplicate
Ask Claude Code to reuse the same idempotency key when retrying a write that timed out; a new key means a new post.

Claude Code and SimplePost questions
How do I add SimplePost to Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http simplepost https://app.simplepost.social/mcp, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and sign in to SimplePost in the browser.
Can Claude Code post release notes automatically?
It can draft and schedule them when you ask in a session. For unattended CI jobs, use the SimplePost CLI or API instead of an interactive assistant.
Can Claude Code upload images from my repository?
Not directly to the hosted server, which cannot read local paths. Use a public URL for the image or upload it in the SimplePost web app.
Is there an official Claude Code plugin?
SimplePost publishes a plugin in its own marketplace repository, simple-post/simplepost-claude-plugin. It is maintained by SimplePost, not by Anthropic.
