How it works

How SimplePost supports Telegram

Telegram is the one hosted platform that does not use OAuth. You create a bot with BotFather, make it an administrator of your channel or group, then paste the bot token and the chat ID or public @handle into SimplePost. SimplePost verifies both and stores the numeric chat ID.

SimplePost downloads media from its URL and uploads it to Telegram directly, and publishes follow-ups as replies to the first message.

Telegram account requirements and limits

SimplePost validates these rules when you schedule and again when the post becomes due.

Account requirements

  • A Telegram bot created with BotFather. Keep its token private.
  • The bot added as an administrator of the channel, or as a member with permission to post in the group.
  • The channel's public @handle or numeric chat ID.

Limitations to know

  • Messages are sent by your bot, so they appear with the bot's or channel's name, not your personal account.
  • Polls, buttons and silent notifications are not set by SimplePost.
  • The 50 MB video limit comes from Telegram's Bot API.

How AI assistants publish to Telegram

Channel posts can be longer than on most networks, so an assistant can publish a full changelog or digest. Ask it to use Telegram HTML such as <b> and <a href> and to keep captions under 1,024 characters when there are images.

Length is counted after formatting is parsed, so markup does not count toward the limit but the visible text does.

Give the assistant public media URLs or attach files in a client that supports uploads; SimplePost uploads them to Telegram.

All assistants use the same SimplePost MCP server, so the accounts, validation and results are identical whichever one you use.

From idea to a scheduled Telegram post

  1. Create a bot

    Message @BotFather in Telegram, run /newbot and copy the token.

  2. Make it an admin

    Add the bot to your channel as an administrator with permission to post.

  3. Connect in SimplePost

    Open Accounts → Connect account → Telegram and paste the token and the channel handle.

  4. Schedule posts

    Ask your assistant to prepare the message and schedule it for the channel.

  • The preview shows the message bubble and album layout the way Telegram groups photos.
  • Scheduled messages are sent by SimplePost at the due time. If the bot loses its admin rights, the post fails with Telegram's reason.
  • Edit or discard a scheduled message until it is sent.
