How SimplePost supports Threads

SimplePost connects with Meta's Threads permissions for basic profile access, publishing and managing replies. The reply permission is what lets SimplePost publish follow-ups as a chain under your first post.

Before publishing, SimplePost checks the profile's current Threads publishing quota, so a post is not sent when Meta would refuse it.

  • A Threads profile you can sign in to.
  • Permission to publish and manage replies, granted during connection.

Limitations to know

  • Through MCP, follow-up posts are text-only; attach media to the first post.
  • Polls, topic tags and reply controls are not set by SimplePost.
  • Threads engagement metrics are not read back.

How AI assistants publish to Threads

Threads rewards a conversational tone. Ask the assistant to rewrite a LinkedIn-style announcement as a short chain of posts that each stand on their own.

Use one SimplePost post for several networks: keep the long version in the shared message for LinkedIn and X, and give Threads and Bluesky a per-account override with their own chain. The assistant sends it as a single post with overrides, not separate posts.

The 500-character check applies to each post in the chain, so SimplePost can point to the exact segment that is too long.

All assistants use the same SimplePost MCP server, so the accounts, validation and results are identical whichever one you use.

From idea to a scheduled Threads post

  1. Connect Threads

    Open Accounts → Connect account → Threads and approve access.

  2. Ask for a chain

    Give your assistant the announcement and ask for three or four posts under 500 characters each.

  3. Preview the chain

    Save a draft and check the order and the break points in the preview.

  4. Schedule it with your other networks

    Use per-account overrides so Threads gets the chain and other networks get their own version.

How Threads scheduling and previews behave

  • The preview draws the reply chain with the connecting line between posts, so you can read it in order before it is scheduled.
  • Scheduled chains are published in sequence at the due time; each segment's result is recorded, including partial failures.
  • Edit or discard a scheduled chain until it starts publishing.
